Meta’s vision to create amazing technology
Mark Zuckerberg announced three things recently that is truly revolutionary and nothing like anyone has ever created unlike Microsoft and Google announcing Chat GPT and Bard.
Mixed Reality
The mixed reality glasses can give you a whole new world that is mixed with your real world. The glasses will scan your home, your space and display objects based on your real-world. It is important to know the real world to mix the virtual world in it. These glasses will show slide show of your photos on your wall as per the scan, show objects from your game on the floor or on your bed based on the scan and that is what makes everything better. It is like when you get your robot, the robot will need to scan your home to know what is where to serve you better.
Apart from how much this may harm your eyes if you use them few hours a day, everything else is great. There have not been such glasses interesting enough for anyone to get addicted to it and burn their eyes, so we still don’t know that. We hope Meta has made something that will keep us hooked but also care for our health, and by health we mean our eyes constantly looking at harmful rays.
Artificial Intelligence
Meta introduced chat bots that can help us with various things. Interestingly enough, they are characters with pictures and motion pictures so we can interact with them better than chatting with something invisible. Meta did give a human touch here and separated chat bots based on specialty.
With this Meta has entered the AI world but while Chat GPT and Bard are very much alike, the AI from meta is really different. How practical it is? Well, time will tell. Mark probably knows it better and if he is right this time, we might all switch to Meta in this department too.
Smart Glasses
Surprisingly, it’s Ray-Ban glasses that got smart. The camera within the glasses and assistant who can guide you based on what you are looking through the glasses is brilliant. How many times it happens that you miss that right moment just because you could not open the camera on your phone or switch the lenses of your DSLR? If your glasses are your camera, then you can just click it when you see it. The price is also great and if these glasses do what they say and do it effectively, this can be a big hit like smart watches that we don’t really need but we all have one.
On the flip side, we will not know who is recording us or taking our pictures unless we pay close attention and see that tiny lens on the glasses. This can be a big issue with our privacy. Something that pretty much all tech giants miss out on but safely get away from because people just need that social media or a new tech toy to play with.
Conclusion
It is interesting to see some new toys these days and not just smart phones where we hardly see any real improvement. Smart watches are there but they could not replace smart phones. It’s still just an accessory. People really need a world without smart phones and everything that smart phones can do should be done virtually, hands free, with less clutter and fast.
